Join me on an epic journey to Patagonia – a land of dramatic fjords, towering peaks and extraordinary wildlife at the very bottom of South America.
Over 15 unforgettable days we’ll explore the Chilean fjords, glaciers, and the iconic Torres del Paine National Park aboard a luxury expedition ship. We’ll see ice‑sculpted landscapes, penguin colonies and soaring condors – all while enjoying the comfort and adventure that only a small, helicopter‑equipped ship can offer.
Even better, you’ll leave the ship every single day in Patagonia, something almost no other cruise companies can offer. You’ll experience this remote and magical region in a way very few travellers ever can.
💫 Here’s what makes this trip so special:
- ✅ 🐧 Encounter iconic wildlife, such as Magellanic penguins, sea lions and seabirds
- ✅ ⛰ Experience some of the world’s most remote glacial and fjord systems, including Glacier Alley & Torres del Paine National Park – home to guanacos, condors, and granite spires – plus visit charming Chilean communities and pristine wildlife habitats.
- ✅ 🛳️ Retrace Darwin’s route through the Beagle Channel and learn about the storied history of southern Chile
- ✅ 🚤 Cruise in a Zodiac for a unique perspective of glaciers, fjords and channels
- ✅ 🚁 Helicopter adventures included: Enjoy helicopter flightseeing from Ultramarine for a unique perspective of this incredible landscape
- ✅ Daily excursions: Zodiac cruises, guided hikes and landings in some of Patagonia’s most breathtaking and remote locations- most cruise companies can’t offer these!
And I’ve managed to negotiate us deals off all cabins, including the balcony ones 🎉
If Patagonia has been on your bucket list for years, now’s the time to make it happen.
And if you’ve never really thought about visiting… just LOOK at these photos!

Why This Trip Stands Out
✅ Prime wildlife time: This is one of the best times to see penguins, whales, sea lions and soaring Andean condors in this region.
✅ Stunning light & dramatic landscapes: Enjoy long daylight hours to soak up glacier‑carved fjords, towering granite peaks and unforgettable sunsets over Patagonia’s wild coastlines.
✅ Luxury expedition ship: Travel on Ultramarine, one of the most advanced and comfortable exploration vessels in the world. I’ve been on this ship twice now and it’s utterly brilliant – the crew and guides are exceptional.
✅ Small ship, big adventure: With fewer than 199 passengers on board, you’ll enjoy up to two off‑ship excursions every day – something larger cruise ships simply can’t offer. These excursions include Zodiac cruises through hidden fjords, shore landings and even helicopter adventures! 🚁
✅ Helicopter experience INCLUDED in the price: Take a breathtaking flightseeing trip over Patagonian fjords and glaciers. You can also choose to land on remote ridgelines and even go heli‑hiking to viewpoints few travellers ever see. (Additional cost for extra flights.)
✅ Expert guidance: A world‑class team of guides and naturalists will be with us every step of the way, constantly scouting for wildlife and sharing fascinating stories about the region’s landscapes, history and culture.
✅ Iconic highlights: Explore Torres del Paine National Park – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – and discover remote Chilean fjords and communities steeped in Patagonian culture.
✅ Responsible travel: Quark Expeditions are proud members of AECO and IAATO, following strict guidelines to protect these fragile environments.
✅ Travel together: You’ll be part of my Wandering Travel Tribe group, so you’ll have built‑in friends and support, even if you’re travelling solo.
About the Adventure
I’m so excited to be able to offer this trip – and to join you on it!
We’ll sail deep into Patagonia’s spectacular fjords and coastline, exploring dramatic glaciers, mountain peaks and the incredible wildlife that calls this region home.
We’ll meet in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before flying down to Ushuaia, where we board Ultramarine – our home for the next 15 days. From there, every day brings new discoveries: Zodiac landings on untouched shores, helicopter flightseeing over remote valleys and glaciers, and heli‑hikes to viewpoints very few people ever see.
While we cruise, you’ll enjoy fantastic food and drink (even if you have specific dietary requirements), plus briefings and talks from the expedition team to bring each day’s experiences to life.

The map shown is a suggested itinerary – the exact route will depend on weather and sea conditions – but every stop is carefully chosen to give us the best opportunities for wildlife, jaw‑dropping scenery and fascinating culture, including Torres del Paine National Park and visits to small Patagonian communities in the Chilean fjords.
🦙 Wildlife highlights: Patagonia is home to guanacos, Andean condors, penguins and sea lions. We’ll explore areas rich with birdlife and marine life, with chances to spot:
- Magellanic penguins
- Southern right whales
- Peale’s and dusky dolphins
- Orcas (killer whales) and pilot whales
- Fur seals and elephant seals
📸 A photographer’s dream: Whether you’ve got a professional camera or just your phone, you’ll come away with incredible shots. And don’t worry if you’re not confident – you’ll also receive a beautifully compiled photo journal from the ship’s photographer, filled with hundreds of photos and memories of your adventure. 💖

🛳️ The Ship: Ultramarine
This adventure takes place aboard Ultramarine – the exact ship I’ve personally sailed on in both Svalbard and Antarctica.
It’s a new, state‑of‑the‑art expedition vessel packed with features designed for comfort and adventure.
Ship Highlights
✅ Friendly, professional crew: I’ve never met a team so genuinely helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming.
✅ Small ship, big access: With under 200 passengers, Ultramarine can do things larger ships can’t – like Zodiac landings on remote shores, getting closer to wildlife, and operating within sensitive areas that bigger vessels aren’t permitted to enter.
✅ Built for exploration: Ultramarine carries two twin‑engine helicopters, giving you access to experiences few other ships can offer – heli‑hiking on remote ridges, flightseeing over glaciers, and even landings on the Greenland Ice Sheet.
✅ 360° viewing deck: You can walk all the way around the ship, so when someone spots whales or other wildlife, you can get there in seconds.
✅ Onboard comforts:
- Spa and sauna with huge picture windows (yes, you can watch icebergs drift by while you unwind!)
- Gym, bar, presentation theatre, two fantastic restaurants, shop and 24/7 reception
- Daily presentations from the Expedition Team to bring Greenland’s wildlife, history and culture to life
🌱 Responsible travel:
One of the reasons I’m happy to partner with Quark is their strict adherence and respect for this incredible environment. Quark Expeditions are passionate about protecting the places they visit. The ship is eco‑friendly, they only land in approved areas, and they follow strict IAATO (International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators) guidelines to minimise disturbance to wildlife and the environment. They also work closely with local authorities and communities in Chile to ensure every visit leaves a positive impact.

🍽️ Meals on Board
One thing I can promise: you won’t go hungry!
Meal times might shift depending on landings and wildlife sightings, but you’ll enjoy:
- Three delicious meals a day, with breakfasts and lunches usually buffet style, and dinners either buffet or plated.
- Snacks and treats are available all day, including an almost continuous tea/coffee station with biscuits and cakes.
- Soft drinks, wines, beer, and non‑premium spirits included during meals and bar hours. (And no, these aren’t the cheap and disgusting ones- the free drinks are really good!)
- Premium spirits, wines and champagne available for an additional charge, billed to your onboard account (no cash needed).
Most dietary needs can be accommodated if you let Quark know in advance. (The only exception is kosher meals, which can’t be provided.)
✨ Cabin Example
Standard Balcony Ensuite Cabin (photo above)
Bright, comfortable and perfect for watching the scenery as we sail – complete with private bathroom, daily housekeeping and those all‑important big windows to make the most of the views. The balcony is brilliant for sitting with a cup of tea and watching the incredible landscape (and whales!) just slip by.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I come as a solo traveller?
Absolutely! You can either:
- Share a cabin and be paired with someone of the same gender and similar age, or
- Book your own cabin with a single supplement.
Either way, you’ll be part of our Wandering Travel Tribe group, so you’ll have friends from day one.
How fit do I need to be?
Moderate fitness is plenty. You need to be able to get in and out of the Zodiacs if you want to go ashore. Some people simply choose to stay onboard and enjoy the scenery – there’s no pressure to join every landing. (And don’t worry about getting in/ out of the zodiacs. There are 3 people helping each time. If you can walk up/ down stairs, you can do that)
Do I have to do all the activities?
Not at all. You can pick and choose each day – maybe skip a landing to relax in the spa or enjoy the views from the deck.
🤢 I get seasick… can I still enjoy it?
Me too, my lovely! I was nervous before my first trip to Antarctica, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I feared. I used Seabands and took tablets, and there’s always a qualified expedition doctor onboard. The crew are brilliant at finding calm waters whenever possible, and the ship is designed to cross the fearful Drake Passage. So even though we’re not crossing the Drake, it’s still designed to deal with whatever we encounter with safety and stability.
Do I need to be a serious photographer?
Not at all. I only had my iPhone and a GoPro on my first trip and still came home with amazing photos. But if you do have a “proper” camera, you’ll find endless opportunities to practise and improve.
